This is my first trip report. First of all need to thanks Lakdasun and the members for making desire to Camping and hiking and also give us opportunity to share information about the beautiful places around Sri lanka. I grew up in Haldummulla. I lived 20 years there. It is shame to say :-) I never heard about Adarakanda, Havagala, wangedigala beside lakdasun. Thanx again to lakdasun.org and members. When I reading the Camping, Hiking reports I wanted go for camping, so I thought ADARAKANDA range will be good for me as a beginner. I planned to go on December 2014 but it didn’t work out because of bad weather. Then I planned to go on February 2015. My brother and Prabath joined with me.

On fist day by brother and me leave home about 9.30 am. It was rain little bit. We came to Belihul oya junction about 10.15 am and the rain didn’t have stopped. Then we had to wait for probath’s arrival. After that we came to the culvert 161/4 as described in Ashan’s report. The rain was stopped. It was about 10.50 am when we started our hike from there. We took road on left side which goes uphill and ends at monastery. It took about 30 min to reach the monastery. Then we had to cross the stream near the toilet of the monastery and then we entered a foot path which took us through a pines plot. It was about 10.40 am. We had to climb up through the pines plot. It was deficit journey. Then we reached small flat area. It was about 12 noon. We had a break there. We started our hike again. Then we came across a flat area while walking through the pine wood. It’s good place for camping. There was evidence of previous campers. From there onward journey was little bit easy. Finally we came out of the pine plot and it was about 12.30 pm.

There was plenty of flat space to camp and there was evidence of camping. Yes it is great place to see all area. The Scenery is getting better and better in every moment. So we had mini break there. We started hike again. After passing through the plat area trail continues to ascending again.

We continued our hike until 2.00 pm. We had lunch. After lunch we stayed about 20 minutes there. We started hike again. We continued our hike until reach the 1st peak. While we were hiking the weather didn’t seem good. We reached the 1st peak (Paraviyangala). It was about 3.20 pm. Wow! The Scenery was elegant. We reached 2nd and 3rd peaks and didn’t spent more time there because rain was on the way.

We started to climb down.  It was 4.20 pm. While descending the rain came down. We all got wet. We made a mistake by bring all of our stuffs to summit. Actually I planned to camp on summit. But plan change because of windy weather. It was difficult to get down while raining. We came to the camp site that we pass while climbing. It was 5 pm and there was another group who came for camping. So we had to go another place for put our tent. Rain stopped. But there was dark around us. We pitched over tent and tried to make camp fire and didn’t work out because of wet firewood. We had “Rottee” for dinner. My mum made for us. After the dinner we went to sleep.
