We started build a “Kuti” in the forest near “Kukulamalapotha” village. This is one of remote villages near Ilukkumbura area. Earlier more than 50 families lived in this village , but now only 4 families live in this village. Due to many difficulties they left from this village. From village border we have to go nearly 2 km’s in the jungle to reach the “Lena”. This place situated in the middle of the hill & adjoining “Thelgamu Oya”.

Long time ago a monk lived in this “Lena” & after that no one use this. We made the “Kutiya” using “Lena”. We used cement blocks for construction & we took sand from “Thelgamu Oya”. Very difficult task is carrying goods up to site. Many people gave their support to carrying goods up to site.

Our aim was complete all work & donate to monk for live in this “Vas Period”. Therefore on our 1st trip we complete construction work of all walls & “sakman maluwa”.

On 2nd trip we completed water supply for “Kutiya”. “Ulpath” situated nearly 1 km away & we arrange pipeline from there.

Friday midnight we start our journey & we reached Pitawala Pathan around 4.45 a.m. We took little rest there & around 6.00 a.m reached to Ilukkumbura. From there we went to “Kukulamalapotha” village. We start work from when we reached to Kutiya. We took only break for lunch & work till around 6.00 p.m. After that having good bath from oya & prepare our dinner. After having that we went to sleep early & wake up around 5.45 a.m. Again work !!! This was the time table for all 2 trips.

But we saw happy ending & as we planned we were able to complete all work nicely. In this “Vas Period” monk will use this “Kutiya”.

This was memorable & highly valuable experience for us. Pls go through the photos & share our experience.
